A 5% buyer’s premium is added to the final sale price. Example – If the equipment sells for $25.00, the total cost to the buyer will be $26.25, which must be included in payment.
LIABILITY: This equipment is sold “as is” and “where is” without warranty either expressed or implied. All sales will be final. The City may withdraw this item at any time from the auction sale. No warranties are offered. If you are unclear about any condition of this sale, you should contact the City Clerk for clarification at (248) 437-1735. The City of South Lyon assumes no liability for inaccurate or erroneous descriptions contained in any descriptive material pertaining to the auctioned equipment.
PROCESS: After closing of bid, bidder will be notified to make payment and to pick up the item.
TIME LIMIT: Payment in full must be received within 15 business days of the auction completion, and the vehicle must be picked up and removed from City premises at time of purchase. If the equipment is not picked up within 10 working days after the auction completion, the City of South Lyon reserves the right to retain the vehicle and re-list the equipment for auction.
PAYMENT: A 5% buyer's premium will be added to the final sale price. The equipment and buyer's premium must be paid in full at the Treasurer’s Office. The receipt and proper identification must be presented to the assigned City of South Lyon staff before the equipment and/or items can be removed from City premises.
NO PERSONAL CHECKS, OUT-OF-STATE OR CANADIAN CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Governmental Entity / School: If a governmental entity or school is the successful bidder, a tax exemption form will be required before the equipment can be removed from the premises. If the successful bidder is another governmental entity including schools, that entity’s check will be adequate form of payment.
The City Treasurer accepts cash, certified or cashier’s check, or money orders with a valid picture I.D. Please note that the Treasurer’s Office is in a different building (City Hall) than the South Lyon Police Department and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Allow enough time to go to City Hall to make payment prior to pick up at the police department.
If bidder sends an agent to pick up the equipment and/or items, in addition to receipt of payment in full, the agent must have the following documentation prior to the release of an equipment and/or items: 1. Valid driver’s license in his/her name and, 2. Original NOTARIZED statement from the bidder appointing the individual as his/her agent and authorizing the agent to sign the Certificate of Title as Purchaser and agent of the bidder.
PICK-UP: Once payment has occurred, the item must be picked up within 2 hours at the South Lyon Police Department at 219 Whipple Street, South Lyon, MI 48178 between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The equipment is to be removed at the risk and expense of the purchaser. The equipment must be removed without City staff participation.
IMPORTANT: In the event a buyer fails to consummate a sale, after his/her bid has been accepted by the City of South Lyon, he/she will be barred from future e-Auctions conducted by the City for a period of three years. Reconsideration or appeal can be made with the entity’s Purchasing agent or his/her designee within two weeks of the notice to be barred. Their decision as to reinstatement will be considered in the entity’s best interest and will be final.
In cases of repeated defaults i.e. more than one-time, the buyer may also be barred from ANY further participation in surplus auctions on this entire website and be prohibited from re-registering under a new email address.
