Background The 2015 Woody Vegetation Management project involves work at Stony Creek Ravine Nature Park and Draper Twin Lake Park. Both project sites include trail corridors and natural areas with rolling terrain. Sites have thick infestations of non-native invasive woody plants, primarily autumn olive. The goals for managing woody vegetation are to facilitate user access along trails and to begin the ecological restoration process. The purpose of this solicitation is to shred or remove all woody vegetation from project sites, except native trees identified by Parks and Recreation staff. Work may begin upon award of contract and must be completed by February 26, 2015. A hydro-ax or similar equipment should be used to shred woody vegetation, minimizing soil disturbance. Project boundaries and desirable native trees that should not be removed will be marked by Oakland Township Parks and Recreation staff before work begins. The total area to be cleared at Stony Creek Ravine Nature Park is 4.5 acres. At Draper Twin Lake Park the area to be cleared includes a 25 foot buffer on both sides of 960 feet of trail, plus 25 foot buffer on one side of 160 feet of trail. The total area to be cleared at Draper Twin Lake Park is 1.2 acres. Please login to MITN to download complete specifications and proposal response forms.
